Modern medicine: More documenting, less patient interaction.

One of the main causes of physician burnout is the paperwork. Physicians are now spending more time than ever documenting to meet the increasingly cumbersome reimbursements demands from insurance companies and third-party payers. LevMed believes this time could be more valuably spent with patients. By cutting out third party interference, LevMed and Dr. Levine are able to spend more time with the patient.

A recent article in the New York Times follows this trend and how a doctor actually spends most of the work day. "The study came on the heels of another analysis, in the Annals of Internal Medicine, in which 57 physicians were observed directly for 430 hours.

The researchers found that doctors spent nearly twice as much time doing administrative work as actually seeing patients: 49 percent of their time, versus 27 percent."
